Driver requirements (KY & IN)
What you'll need to drive with Trust Trey Transport in Kentucky and Indiana. Requirements are set by state law and vary between the two states.
Minimum driver age
At least 21 years old.
At least 19 years old.
Valid driver's license
Valid state-issued driver's license required.
Valid Indiana or reciprocal-state license; a copy is submitted with the application.
Vehicle registration
Valid registration required; VIN and plate records kept for a minimum of 3 years.
Valid Indiana (or equivalent) registration required; records maintained by the company.
Criminal background check
National check before accepting rides, by a qualified background business (fingerprint or SSN-based). KRS 281.6301 sets disqualifying offenses.
Local and national check before driving. Sex-offender-registry matches and other specified history are disqualifying.
Driving-record check
Current driving history required, updated annually and kept on file for inspection.
No separate statutory driving-record requirement beyond the background check.
Personal auto insurance (waiting period)
Primary liability at KRS 281.655(12) minimums, plus basic reparation, uninsured and underinsured coverage.
$50,000 per person / $100,000 per incident bodily injury; $50,000 property damage (after June 30, 2024).
Commercial / TNC insurance (active ride)
Primary liability at KRS 281.655(4) minimums, plus basic reparation and uninsured coverage. TNC covers from first dollar if the driver's policy lapses.
$1,000,000 per incident, combined for death, bodily injury and property damage.
Vehicle age
No more than 15 years old.
No specific statutory age limit.
Vehicle condition & inspection
Annual mechanical inspection by a qualified technician (initial within 30 days). Four doors, no cosmetic damage, seats no more than 8 including driver.
No specific inspection requirement; the company must require compliance with all vehicle-equipment laws.
Company registration / permit
TNC applies for authority under KRS 281.630; a corporate-officer affidavit certifies background checks are completed.
TNC obtains a permit from the Dept. of Revenue; $10,000 surety bond and a broker's license; a zero-tolerance drug/alcohol policy is filed.
Driver safety training
2-hour state-approved collision-prevention course; certification valid 5 years.
No specific statutory training requirement.
